Doctor of Medical Science, Reijiro Ishii (Dr. Ishii) decided to specialise in cosmetic dermatology because of a particular female patient he met while at the Dermatology Department at the Japan Red Cross Central Hospital.
Among the patients with heavy conditions such as burns, a lady visited with a case of acne.
When Dr. Ishii told her “Don’t worry, a little acne won’t kill you”, the lady burst into tears.
Dr. Ishii then realised, “To her this means as much as life or death, how callous I was to her…”.
Reflecting on this encounter with regret, he decided to specialise in cosmetic dermatology, at a time when it was yet to exist in Japan.
Based on long clinical experience Dr. Ishii came to focus on the power of water and the potency of fermentation products on the skin, and immediately incorporated it into practice.
The hallmark of this work is the FINGGY patch (the current FINGGY MASK) prescribed continuously over the years.
Dr. Ishii has maintained his policy of staying hands on with clinical practice from the first day of opening the clinic. With the aim of treating as many clients as possible, every day he can be seen personally greeting clients with a smile.
The smile is another factor that Dr. Ishii considers to be essential to his practice.
This is because he considers most important, that he helps clients to become positive and full of life.
According to Dr. Ishii,
“A smile is the best beauty serum”
